Web 2.0 and Beyond...

As consumers gain more freedom to pursue their own interest via collaborative participation they themselves will eventually satisfy their need for information about products that suit their interests. In doing so, eventually they will trust the information obtained via collaborative participation (ie shared experiences from consumers with certain products) than information straight from the supplier. The main question that still needs to be answered is: How will businesses react when collaborative participation becomes much more relevant than any type of marketing straight to the consumer? The answer is they will have to adapt - but how?

This article offers advice to businesses on how they should combat the inevitable change in consumer behavior in Web 2.0 and beyond. Businesses will have to pay close attention to consumers’ online behavior but the solution will be summed up with one word: Innovation!!!

The Primary Innovation Centers

I started reading commentary from McKinsey&Company sometime late winter. They publish "The McKinsey quarterly" which highlights research and opinions covering a wide range of issues. This is the first article I have read from John Thackara who is an author and director of a small production company called Doors of Perception. His company teams grassroots innovators in Europe and India with designers to develop a sustainable future. I enjoyed this article because it gives specific examples of how innovation can evolve and be created.

Preparation Etiquette

Brent Bowers is an editor at The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. His Column, In the Hunt, is designed to scrutinize the changing world of small business. One of his recent articles I found to be an important topic of discussion for entrepreneurs. It argues how successful entrepreneurs are able to strike the appropriate balance between enthusiasm and authenticity when pitching to angel investors.

Johnny Cupcakes, Business on the Rise!!!

Check out a new up and coming business, named Johnny Cupcakes. I first learned about Johnny Cupcakes through an article in inc's July/August 2009 issue. It's very interesting to learn how businesses come to life and how every business innovation has a different story. Check Johnny Cupcakes out on the link below from inc.com.

Customer Service!!!

As a loyal customer to an enormous amount of businesses I walk into different establishments and expect the best service, but it normally doesn't happen that way. I usually get a grumpy employee that services my needs and a less helpful manager. During my visit to PC Richards and Sons on Atlantic Ave. in Brooklyn, NYC I experienced very bad service. How can us business innovator's and entrepreuner's develop a system of customer satisfaction while keeping our employee's motivated and our suppliers enthusiastic about giving us new and exciting merchandise for our customer's?

Well I have a great book to recommend

"Hug Your Customers" by: Jack Mitchell

This book is a phenomonal read and has opened my eyes to hugging and the positive effects it has on customers, employees, and suppliers. Check it out.
